About feature
- You can do this using the embed feature. For other cases, please refer to this TIPS.
- Since the specification by ThumbnailCity does not clear, it takes time to redisplay the thumbnails for the first time, but the specified thumbnail will be displayed. No need to re-specify.
- Turn off the OneDrive files-on-demand feature. When the files-on-demand feature is ON, Explorer displays thumbnails generated on the cloud side, so the ThumbnailCity function is not used. This feature can be turned ON / OFF by right-clicking the OneDrive icon in the task tray -> setting -> setting tab.
About setting
- This can be changed using the registry file included in TcPrevSceneSize.zip. Refer the included readme for details.
- Frame caching is a function that caches a frame (image) that has been displayed once, and then retrieves it from the cache and quickly displays it the next time the frame at that position is displayed.
- However, if a frame is moved during frame retrieval processing (when the mouse cursor is in a waiting state), the retrieval process is canceled and processing to retrieve the moved frame is started, so the frame is not cached. In other words, if you perform an operation after the screen changes, it will be cached, but if you perform the operation before the screen changes, it will not be cached.
About error and warning
- An error has occurred due to the movie cannot be decoded with Media Foundation, Direct Show and libVLC.
- Refer How to fix “Failed to play movie.” for details.
- In addition, for AVC-encoded FLV movies, you can generate the thumbnail by enabling the “FLV Media Source” which is bundled in ThumbnailCity. To enable “FLV Media Source”, do “Modify” in “Apps & features” or do “Modify” from the installer.
- If you are using Version 2 or later, you may be able to decode with libVLC, which is bundled in VLC Media Player.
- Other cases above, it is necessary to install a Media Source or Splitter for the container which you want to play. Also Decoder or Rendering filter is required which suit to encoded data you want to play. Check container and encode type which you want to play by using “MediaInfo”, etc, then install codec-pack, other software which be able to play container and encode data.
- In order to specify a thumbnail for movie file other than mp4 container, the media containing the file must be formatted with NTFS or ReFS. FAT etc. are not supported.
- This message appears when you try to copy or move a movie file to media that is not formatted with NTFS or ReFS when a thumbnail or bookmarks are specified for the movie without using the embedding feature, or when ADS cache is enabled.
- If you try to copy or move a movie file with thumbnail or bookmarks specified without using the embedding feature, the thumbnail or bookmark informations will not be reflected in the copy or move destination.
- In cases other than the above, no particular harm will occur.
- This error occurs when you manually move / rename or delete file(s) located in the ThumbnailCity installed folder. It will be fixed if you restore the file(s) to its original location.
- You may be using a non-official version of ThumbnailCity. Alpha versions, beta versions, RC versions, etc. other than official release versions may contain defects, so an expiration date has been set. Please check the version you are using from the readme, etc., and install the latest release version if necessary.
- If you got ThumbnailCity through official site, this is a false positive from your antivirus software. To avoid this, refer here.
- Proceed as “Start menu” -> “Settings” -> “Apps” -> “Installed apps” -> “ThumbnailCity” -> “Modify” then the original installer will open. Select “Repair” at the “Change, repair, or remove installation” dialog.
About license
- If “Read me – ThumbnailCity Free” is listed in the “Start menu”, the freeware version is installed. Re-install the shareware version after uninstall the freeware version.
- After displaying the “Start menu”, type “ThumbnailCity” and you will see the item “Register license key – ThumbnailCity”.
- When purchasing online via PayPal, you can pay using your bank account or debit card registered with PayPal.
- The email is sent automatically immediately after the purchase process is completed, usually within a few minutes.
- Please check to see if the email has been sorted into a spam folder or other folder. We are experiencing cases of emails being sorted into the spam folder, especially in Gmail.
- Please make sure that the email address you have registered with PayPal is available to receive your message. If your email address is not available, please contact us at the contact information provided in the readme, even if it is from a different address.
- If none of the above apply, please contact us at the contact information provided in the readme.
- Re-issue of a license key is free of charge for the first time, and a fee of 500JPY is charged for the second and subsequent times.
- Please send an email to “mottei6@yahoo.co.jp” with the subject “ThumbnailCity license key reissue”. Include your name and email address that use to purchase the license key in message body.
- After removing the license key from the original PC, register the license key to another PC.
- The license key can be removed using the registry file included in TcRemoveLicenseKey.zip. Refer the included readme for details.

PCを初期化したいのですが、その場合、今までに指定したサムネイル情報は失われますか？
再指定が必要でしょうか？バージョンは1.3.9です。
ご質問中の「PCの初期化」が、具体的にどのレベルの初期化を指しているか分かりませんでしたので、一般論としてV1.3系シェアウェア版でサムネイル情報が失われる場合を以下に回答します。
・動画ファイルが削除された場合
・動画ファイルをNTFSでもReFSでもない別のボリュームに移動した場合
・streamsコマンド等のADSを削除する操作を動画ファイルに実行した場合
上記の全てに該当しない場合は、サムネイル情報が失われることはありません。

サムネイルの枠の色について、埋め込みの有無で青/黄に分かれているような気がするのですが、どちらがどちらなのかわかりません。
サムネイルの枠の色は、以下の通りです。
・サムネイルが指定されていない場合＝白色
・埋込機能を使用して指定したサムネイルが表示されている場合＝水色
・埋込機能を使用しないで指定したサムネイルが表示されている場合＝黄色
周りくどい表現のようですが、埋込機能を使用して指定した動画を、埋込機能を使用しないで再度指定した場合、埋込機能を使用しないで指定したサムネイルを優先して表示するため、上記の表現にしています。

ThumbCityFree_x64_2.0.13（シェアウェア版）
ファイルの書込みに失敗しました。
詳細＝アクセスが拒否されました。
と出ます。
ちなみにアルファ版も試しましたが結果は同じでした。
どう対処すればよいでしょうか。
readme.txtの「11. 不具合の指摘について」に記載の通り、ログファイルを収集の上、当方に送付頂きたくお願いします。
また、ご指摘に「（シェアウェア版）」とありますが、「ThumbCityFree_x64_2.0.13」はフリーウェア版の名称です。どちらの版であるかご確認ください。
作成日時のタイムスタンプが変更されるのを回避する方法はありますか？
更新日時が変更されるのは致し方ないですが。
現状では回避方法はありません。
埋込み機能を適用したことがない動画ファイルに、埋込み機能を使用してサムネイルと位置情報を埋込む場合に限り、作成日時のタイムスタンプが変更されます。この場合、動画ファイルの中間部分にサムネイルデータを埋込むため、元ファイルを書き換えるのではなく、元ファイルを参照しつつ新規にファイルを生成しているため、作成日時が変更されます。新規に生成したファイルの作成日付を元ファイルの作成日付で書き換えることは理屈の上では可能です。ご要望であれば、将来的に機能追加を検討しますが、ご意見頂ければと思います。(なお、更新日付は別の技術的理由で変更が必須です。)
タイムスタンプ自体を変更する事はできるんですが、
いちいち書き換えるのは面倒なのと、データベースを作る上で
やはり作成日時が変わってしまっては都合が悪いので、
是非機能の追加の検討をお願い致します。

シェアウェア版のライセンスキー購入は1700円との事ですが、支払いは一度切りなのでしょうか？
それとも、シェアウェア版の試用期限は30日の表示ありますが、更新の度に請求はあるのでしょうか？
ライセンスキー購入時のお支払いは1回切りです。ライセンスキーに有効期限はありません。ただし、ライセンスキーの漏洩等の不正利用が認められた場合は、そのライセンスキーを無効化することがあります。また、将来のバージョンアップで、旧バージョンのライセンスキーを無効にする可能性がありますが、その場合でも旧バージョンを使用する限りにおいてはライセンスキーは有効です。

Win10のノートパソコンにインストールすると途中でエラーとなり完了できませんのメッセージが出てインストールできません。インストールする方法ありますか？

ThumbnailCity Free 2.0.900.13セットアップウィザードを完了できませんでした
エラーが発生したため、ThumbnailCity Free 2.0.900.13のセットアップウィザードは処理の途中で 終了しました。システムは変更されていません。このプログラムを後でインストールするには、セットアップウィザードを再実行してください。セットアップウィザードを終了するには、[完了]ボタンをクリックします。
上記のバージョン2つ共同じエラーでインストールできませんでした。

当方の環境(Win10 Home(64) 22H2 19045.5487)にてv2.0.13のインストーラーを実行したところ、正常にインストールできることを確認しました。そちらの環境固有の問題と考えられます。MSインストーラーでログファイルを出力させ、当方に送付下されば解析させて頂きます。ログファイルは以下のコマンドをコンソールから実行することで取得できます。
msiexec /i {ThumbnailCityのmsiファイルのパス} /L*v {ログファイルのパス}
例：msiexec /i c:\Temp\ThumbnailCity_free_x64.msi /L*v c:\Temp\TcInstall.log

お手数をおかけしますがよろしくお願いいたします。
送付頂いたログを解析したところ、インストール中にThumbnailCityのDLLを呼び出そうとして共有違反が発生していることが判りました。セキュリティソフト等によるDLLのロックが原因である可能性が高いです。お使いのセキュリティソフトのリアルタイムスキャン機能を一時的にOFFにしてインストーラを実行してみてください。
なお、共有違反が発生していることは、ログの以下の箇所から読み取れました。
TcInstall.log#824 MSI (s) (DC:D4) [18:05:31:169]: Note: 1: 2265 2: 3: -2147287035
-2147287035 = 0x8003001D, STG_E_SHAREVIOLATION
Avastを入れていたのでアンインストールしてみたのですがダメでした。
共有違反しているソフトが分からないので、時間あるときにOS入れ替えてからインストールしてみようと思います。
